This may be due to the stress hormone cortisol telling your body to pad the waistline. To avoid this try finding a hobby you enjoy, or listen to your favorite music, play with the kids, or basically anything that will lower your levels of stress.

Calorie Control - The absolute best strategy to get rid of that belly is to burn more calories in a day than you take in. This is done by lowering the calories you consume by following a low calorie diet (only lower your daily calories by about 200 or so) and to burn off extra calories with full body exercises. Reducing the amount of calories you consume on a daily basis can be hard, so eat plenty of low calorie foods which fill you up like fruit, chicken or soup. This will drop your overall body fat percentage and help flatten out your stomach.

Beer And Your Belly - Beer is dense in calories, which is one of the main factors it adds fat around the waist. However, there's actually evidence that beer in particular adds more to your waistline than other alcoholic beverages. A study done at at UNC found that those who drank beer had the highest waist-to-hip ratio compared to the drinkers who drank the same equivalent of liquor.
